it reads: "Campagnolo bicycle components are unconditionally guaranteed for life against defects in materials or workmanship. Campagnolo components are noy, however, guaranteed against wear resulting from use or wear resulting from improper maintenance."

if i'm riding along and my crank breaks, i'd probably pursue getting a replacement. if it broke and my bike had been crashed once or six times, or if my bike ever fell over and landed on the crank, i would not feel justified in getting a warranty claim.

in my life (!) these are the only problems i ever had with parts breaking: 1) flange cracked, mid 90s, on a rebuilt hub used on a 'winter wheel' 2) seatpost carraige bolt snapped, 4 yr old chorus, overtightened... 3) mid 90s ergolever stopped working after 3 seasons. i never had lubed or serviced it.

no broken cranks. a few overtightened seatlug bolts, some worn-out chainrings, and some frayed cables. that's it.

i have a 100,000 mile warranty on my car. i pay a premium to the manufacturer to extend some of the limitations. if i crash or ditch the car, i'd bet some of the warranty would be voided. perhaps the dealer would give me a loaner out of courtesy, if my car needed shop time. if you ride along and your part breaks, i'd wager you'd get serviced. who on the list has broken a part that wasn't a used part, was never crashed, nor poorly maintained? in industry parlance, are there any JRA (just riding along...) stories? e-RICHIE chester ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]

Yes, I believe that Campy has altered the rules for warranty since the #17 catalogue, but proving they did it would be difficult and expensive incourt> Dale Brown
