Subject: [CR]Repro Hoods

All this talk about Campy repro hoods is fine, and I like the idea of a CR hood, but lately I've been considering that I might undertake a personal attempt a making other repro hoods (for my own use at least). Specifically I've got:

- Universal CX brakes with the very cool super cut-out levers and adjuster barrels, that I absolutely cannot seem to find hoods for. I have the old dried out hoods that might help me make new ones. Campy sized hood don't fit because of the adjuster barrels.

- Universal Super 68 levers that need hoods (I have a NOS set that I'm thinking perhaps I can cast from)

- Universal Special levers that have old crusty dry hoods on them (they look very much like the Super 68 hoods would fit, so more reason to try making some)

Dia-Compe Grande Compe levers, that had badly dried hoods. I finally got a newer set of these levers with hoods from Mr. Naiman, the hoods are cracking a bit, and I'm thinking that if I actually wanted hoods that looked really right I should try making castings from these before they deteriorate. Otherwise a CR hood would fit these.

So all this to say, if anyone has done this before, or can point me to folks to talk to, books to read, web pages or suppliers to help get started I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,
