<...Help Wanted...
<I've just purchase, but not yet acquired as it's going to Joe Bell for <touch-up, a Peugeot frameset that I am hoping other Francophiles (or not) <can help identify. First, yes I've taken the time to look on the Peugeot <page and Dale's site and there is some, but little help there. I believe <the frame is a early to mid 1980's PZ???. It looks the same as Jerry Moos' <frame on Dales site except is a gold color. Reynolds 531 Professional <tubing (red lettering on decal). Lugs are long point with cutouts that are <like a heart shape but a bit more triangular. Full chromed fork and fully <sloping crown, chrome on drive side chain stay and about 4" on all other r<ear stays. Fastback style seat stays. White Peugeot lettering with <orange/red chevrons as on Jerry's bike. Campagnolo SR headset. Unknown <dropouts but they are high quality looking forged units with threaded hole <for rear derailleur. English threaded BB. Takes a 26.4 seatpost (I'm <told). About 3 years ago it was a similar but NOS frame which I found and <that drew me to join this list; that frame was sold by the time I got back <to that individual. Some of you were very knowledgeable and provided much <help. Unfortunately, I lost all that data when my previous PC got a <horrendous virus and all the "old" CR archives are unavailable. I think <this model originally came all Campagnolo SR. Please enlighten me with what <model you believe this to be, years made, and component specs (or was it <just sold as a frameset?).
<Thanks in advance to all that reply.
Eric, I have a 1986 Peugeot catalog that lists the bike you describe. Its a PZ10 and was Peugeots top of the line steel frame for that year. All details you have described are consistant with the picture and description in the catalog. The equipment is as follows headset, crankset, brakes and derailleurs were Campy SR. Pedals campy super light. Handlebar Cinelli 65. Stem cinelli IR. Hubs were campy nuovo record laced to Mavic GP4 rims (36 spoke). Maillard freewheell 13-21t. Seat was a Selle Italia Turbo. Available colors were Champagne (yours) or black. The champagne color is pictured in the catalog. The seat handlebar tape were white. Catalog does't say much else. Dropouts were forged, doesn't say what kind. If you state your frame size I can tell you the geomatry as listed in the catalog. But in general, its short wheelbase, steep angles.
