You are right Scott this set up was not common, but does look ahead of it's time now. It is also rare among Confentes as I think there were only three with Bar controls.

No, not all Confentes have the engraved levers.

bar-cons are a dead giveaway, the bike is a RB-1 with a misleading repaint and some clever dremel work on the lugs. And the hoods are shot.

Seriously, was this a common set up with the brazed on bar-cons stops ? They look like modern STI stops, another example of reinventing bike stuff on 20 year cycles ? Did all the bikes come with the engraved brake levers ?
