Just a suggestion:
1) Face the "knife edge" side of the shell so you get a good, flat surface.
2) Have a machinist make you a couple of spacers out of good grade aluminum
or stainless steel to keep your chainline where it should be. These can be
touched up to match, if you like, or left "au naturelle".
