It wasn't the dealer who wanted to cold set it. It was the guy at the Motobecane distributor. I eventually got the credit because the dealer sided with me as he knew a bit about metallurgy also. This was in Southeast Texas, maybe the distributor in Carolina was more knowledgeable. Of course, I don't think Motobecane had actualy made any aluminum frames themselves at the time, so maybe their guys were ignorant of them.
