Well, had a very interesting, and also frustrating afternoon working on a bike today. The list has been a bit boring and languid of late, hope this doesn't make it too racy for y'all ;-)

Bought a NOS pair of TA 3-arm cranks, 180mm, from a (ex ??) CR-member a while back. I am sure it was a good faith sale. When I go to put a ring on the arms(intended use: 7 speed rear, single 45 ring up front), I suddenly notice that where the ring attaches, the spider thickness has been machined to 3 different thicknesses.......each spider-arm has effectively a different thickness from EACH of it's neighbors!!!

Now, I know I can play with spacers etc to infinity, till I get the ring to run true, but one of the spider bits has been machined pretty thin. As I won't be front shifting, I guess I will be OK?? Has anyone ever seen this happen before, seems *very* weird to me.

Anyway, does anyone have a 180mm right(drive)side TA 3-arm crank for a good cause. To sell, of course, or, I guess, even a pair of 175's.
