Subject: [CR]Brakes for non-recessed fork?

Hello,

I am building up an old Raleigh frame and recently discovered that that the fork is not recessed for a typical sidepull brake caliper mounting bolt, i.e., the brake mounting bolt does not extend from the fork crown, so can't put a nut on it. So I guess sometime before I got into cycling (1986), there must have been non-recessed brakes (front brakes with longer bolts). Can anyone list a few models I might look for on EBAY? Or if anyone has a set they want to sell, let me know. I am also toying with simply drilling the crown to accept a recessed nut. Shouldn't be hard to do. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Dave
