The pedals are the Campy Record SGR. It is the last clip 'n' strap pedal that Campy brought out. It is the last of three top-of-the line Campy Record pedals.
The first is the C-record platform pedal which came out c. 1985. The Victory/Chorous/Athena pedal is often confused with the C-rec platform in Ebay auctions. They are not the same, not by a long shot.
The next was the Record Ergo, which came out c. 1987. Aparently it was intro'd as an answer to the general rejection of the platform design. If you look at photos from 1985 and 1986, there were a lot of top riders on full C-record bikes with SL road or track pedals. The Ergo was the most widely used C-record pedal. A lot of guys used them until they switched to clipless. I think they were used by the late Casartelli in the 1992 Olympics. That was the last time I can recall seeing a major road event won with clip and strap pedals. Oh yeah, I think the Ergos were sold for both road and track use. The front plate was very simple, but the rear had a quill that the strap routed through.
The pedals in the aution are the SGR. They have a triple bearing system for "better corner clearance." This system was first stolen from the Dura Ace design... I mean this system was developed by Campy and first used on the original Campy clipless pedal and on the Croce clip and strap pedal. The Croce version was the same, except that the cage was riveted on and was not hard anodized. The Record version came out a little later, maybe 1991 or 1992. They didn't get much use in the pro ranks because everyone had gone clipless by then. Again, the were raod/track pedals and there is a "special" Keirin-approved version (same pedal / different QA/QC?). My experience was that the quills on the rear plates are easy to break off. Drop the bike once and they crack. The beatiful finish on the underside of the body will be quickly trashed, but hey, itsa pedal. Oh yeah, the bearing quality was not typical Campy.
BTW, if anyone has a pair of rear SGR cages and one front cage, I need them.

Can anyone positively ID the Campy pedals in this ebay auction? I have a pair, and I actually have them mounted on a track bike, but I didn't think they were really track pedals. Are they? What model? Possibly C-Rec or Croche?
