I have a set of first generation black anodized large flange Dura-ace hubs from the late 70's (I believe they are from 1978.) They were super smooth when new and the workmanship is very good except for the races which pitted quite quickly. Their external finish is perhaps better than a same period Campagnolo, but are more fiddly and not as long lasting. I am presently awaiting a 28 hole rear hub from which I plan to steal the cups to replace the pitted ones.
