...it reminded me that shellacked cotton tape from the 30s, 40s, 50s looks just like plastic handle bar tape from the 1950s!

I know that probably everyone on the list would probably say that the only appropriate place for plastic tape would be on a "department store bike."

But how about traveling back to the late 1940s when all things plastic were revolutionary! I've always looked upon plastic tape as being a poor substitute for cotton tape but maybe it was looked upon, back in the day, as a superior way to tape bars compared to shellacked cotton tape?

Any opinions?
