Subject: [CR]Closing out(?) discussion of Alan

Hey Folks,

Grant McLean and I were having one of those E-mail trips down memory lane the other day about a great store in Toronto called Bicyclesport - it was owned and operated by Mike Barry (father of the USPS rider and now owner of Bicycle Specialties in Toronto). For me it was the only place to buy Campy parts, etc., in the 1970s early 80s (Grant had his own favourite). I still have the wool Gianni shorts and the Eddy Merckx Adidas shoes bought there in 1978 or 79(?).

Anyway, we briefly touched on the catalogue. It was not glossy - just photocopied(?) pages - but full of specs, brief description, etc. I knew I had an old copy from about 1979 kicking around somewhere. Yesterday I located it in a box of my belongings in my parents attic. It brought back old memories. Moreover, it is interesting how irony works, but there on the first page was a picture of an Alan Super Record aluminum- alloy frame with a discussion of its merits and on the back were the specs. I scanned these and thought that some of you on the list might like the info. following yesterday's discussions. By the way Bicyclesport also sold Pinarello's!
