Two different problems, in my opinion. I might feel silly correcting someone on the Record/Nuovo Record issue, unless it was in the context of tracking the history of the Campy product line or something. If it was an Ebay sale for example, Nuovo works for me bacuse that's what most people called them (at least in my 1980's experience) and there is only one pedal even if people use two different names. The SR / SL thing is very different because there were two VERY different but similar-looking pedals with these names. Calling "Record" "Nuovo Record" is like calling "Tom" "Obsessive Tom," in that it isn't my proper name, but it works. Calling "SLs" "SRs" is like calling Tom Dalton, Marco Pantani - two very different people, but look similar... That is we both have four limbs.

I worked in a couple bike shops (one was Gus Dando's on Roscoe and Balboa, in the San Fernando valley) back in the late 70's. We always referred to the steel cage pedals as Nuovo Record no matter what it said on the box. I just finished looking through catalogs 12 through 18 and could not find any Nuovo Record pedals listed. I was able to find Super Record, Super Light and Record, but no Nuovo Record. Mr. Schmidt has been correct all along. No such animal as Nuovo Record pedals
Now what we need to do is show tolerance to those who will continue to refer
to the steel cages as Nuovo Record and to the SL pedals with steel spindles
as Super Record, either through not knowing or not caring. I always email
the seller to verify the magnetic status of the spindles (pedals or BB)
before I place my bid.
