One of mine: In 1984, late summer, rode from Portland, OR to the coast and back in a day trying to stay on the most lightly travelled roads and ended up using Highways 47 and 202 through Pittsburg, Jewell, Mist, and the elk refuge. Hilly but not killer hilly, and long; I think the total was about 220 miles including getting lost on a few unpaved miles in the Coast Range--an attempt to connect with the coast highway at a less busy area than Astoria. Jim, I know you know where all these roads are, for the rest of the group Oregon has excellent road riding! Classic content: Ride done on a lugged Griffon, gearing probably something like 44/50, 14-28.
