Hi CR folks:
It is time to let some prize bikes go in an effort to re-direct my collecting focus and also to raise some cash. If you are really interested in bikes photos can be arranged (some bikes are well known and photos are already out in cyberspace). In all cases if you are serious layaway will be available (within reason) and credit card payment is an option. Some may eventually go to ebay if they don't sell here first. Satisfaction guaranteed on all purchases.
A) Masi 1964 track bike - photos are on the vintage velo web site. This is the green one that was once described (not by me) as being of earlier vintage. It has parts that were of the period and are gorgeous - although later 60's Campy Record parts would be most appropriate. The workmanship on this bike is to die for. Paint has been touched up - overall it is like a museum piece. A smidge over 22" to top. $ 3,000.
B) Confente NOS full bike kit. Can be shown at the Larz Show - otherwise can't ship/get photos until the show as its in storage at a friends house on the east coast. Just under 57cm to top. Blue. Frame never built, second to last one he constructed - for one of the Fuller brothers (forgot which one). Number and description was verified by Jim at CyclArt before I purchsed it. Brian Baylis also was familiar with this frame as I recall. Color is dark blue metalic, kinda boring but this may be the last NOS Confente never completely assembled. Will supply with full 1979 Super Record reduced group, new period rims, tires, Cinelli NOS bars, saddle etc. Whole kit price will be $ 6,500. Currently headset and shiftlevers are installed.
C) Raleigh Pro early 70's NOS complete bike. Mink/Silver (the Mink brown) 22" to top (smidge over actually). This bike came out of the carton about 5 years ago and was never fully assembled. It was the feature bike in an old Vintage Racing Bicycle Newsletter. The bike when I took it out of the carton was in its original wrapping but a few of the parts that were loose in the box were played with. The saddle says 1974 and the bar/stem which are early 70's ttt may or may not be original (pros did use these bar/stem combos so not sure). Tires are still soft and are the original Vittoria Silks. The frame has the gold script writing. The Deraillieur says 1970, the front is a no-circlip model, the cranks have no date - so the bike is somewhere between 70 - 72 I suspect. This is perhaps the nicest NOS early Raleigh I've ever seen. There are many later ones, but not early ones like this. Although the bikehas been out of the box, it is in absolutely exquisite condition. $ 2,400
D) Colnago Super 1972? model special Eddy Merckx edition. This is a bike kit - all parts to make a full bike with choice used components will be included. Old logo hoods will be soft, NOS Unicanitor saddle, tires though will be later Clements. About 22.5" to top. Light blue with original paint in awesome condition. Has the funky massively drilled outer chainring as shown in the famous picture of Merxkx sitting next to his bike (labeled Merckx but really a Colonago). There was a special Merckx decal on the downtube (original owner told me) that came off - so one could find the never seen decal or simply use a standard early 70's Colnago yellow decal. Paint once again is spectacular, rest of decals are near perfect, So this bike will be gorgeous when assembled. All other parts are very low mileage - this will be a centerpiece for a Colnago collection. $ 2,000
E) Raleigh Team 753 - about 21.5" to top. Low miles, in extraordinary condition. Ti bb and pedals, fresh period Brooks saddle. Mavic SSC rims, Vittoria tires. The famous red/yellow/black paint scheme. Missing its seatpost binder bolt so to ride as-is will include a QR binder - you will have to find the correct Whitworth threaded bolt. $ 1375
F) Fontaynalloy 1950 French welded aluminum frame (frame only with fork). Gorgeous welds - looks amazing! Currently built now as a 17lb complete bike! Fork has a possibly fatal flaw - was damaged in shipping and when straightened (still not completely straight) a crack developed at the crown). An expert might be able to weld it - but would assume this piece is for display only (when new these things broke like crazy) Will include orignian ad sheet for this frame. The proprietary stem it came with is not available (I never got it) so I built it up with a shimmed modern ahead stem. Someone could make a nice luged stem for it or I might have a French lugged stem that would work with a shim. This is an amazing piece of history and wall art. I doubt that there are many aluminum frame french bikes of this period in the US. $ 675
Parts:
1) Campy 1st gen crank - still has the pedal caps on the backside of the arms in place. Absolutely gorgeous condition. 170mm. Missing the crank dustcaps (regular "pat" ones should do). $ 975 (nicer that those that sold for more on ebay).
2) Cinelli BiValent wheel set. Alloy version, with all skewers and and extra frewheel or two. Built on some later wood rims. Some dying (or dead) Clement tubular tires are on the rims. $ 875
