Hello. I am a brand new subscriber, so let me apologize for any protocols gaffes I might commit today. The administrator encourages new members to introduce some information about themselves/ their bicycles. I am the proud and original owner of an early seventies Bottecchia Professional. White with chromed fork tips, seat and chain stays, 25 1/2", gold Nisi tubular rims, full Campagnolo Nuovo Record equipped, Cinelli bar and stem- a wonderful club-ridden gem. My search for bicycle info brought me to this site. I am wondering if an expert here could help me with a little general restoration assistance. I am trying to find a safe way to remove the dried, hardened, residue on the handlebars from the OLD Bailey III padded handlebar tape previously on the bike. When I tried to remove it, it stuck like glue. Any ideas on a method to get it off, without damaging those alloy bars? Thanks in advance. Mike Blanchard near Philadelphia
