I have thought of that. I have not looked into what it may take to pull it off, electronics wise. I think the main reason I have been putting it off is that with the current cost of the super bright LED and the machined aluminum heat sinks necessary to deal with the heat generated it will at this time almost be the most expensive light produced. Add a generator and it certainly will be. If I made this thing it would be nice for once to actually have people purchase it and not just consider it some expensive toy. To be blunt I think people who need more than 12 hours burn time are rare, but if it turned out to be a viable need I would look into making it work.

    I'd like to see pictures. Just a thought, if you had a generator in the
    system, you wouldn't need to find an outlet to recharge. That could be pretty
    handy depending on where you are traveling.
