Have a Condor in the workshop. The owner won't sell it nor will he look
after it. It has sat in a lean to for years gathering rust ,dust and
birdshit. I have offered to clean it up so that when he does decide to sell
I have less of a project on my hands. 23", very fancy lugs, obviously Bill
Hurlow, chrome ends. No braze -ons. Everything clipped on. Flat fork crown.
RGF bottom bracket. Seatstays not pencil but not heavy either. Frame number
is 61111 stamped 1/8" on rear of bracket. There is a number 76 in 1/4" stamp
also. This I take to be a sandblasters number - so they can keep frame and
forks together. Equipment is a mix of Campagnolo , Cinelli, SR and Shimano.
Nuovo Tipo hubs with Fiamme clincher rims. Locknuts date 1970. Straight
skewers. Bars- Cinelli Campione Del Mundo, 1A stem, no date stamp. Brakes
are Shimano Tourney centre pulls with Dura Ace levers (look like Weinmann)
Chainset is truly hideous SR "meltforged" with stamped out rings. Yeccchh!
SR pedals. Shimano Titlist front Der,. (all-right Derailleur.) and Crane
rear. Clamp on Shimano gear levers with those white rubber covers. Double
yecchh! Campagnolo clamp on cable guide.SR Laprade seat post (stamped D 81)
with a 50's logo Brooks Champion Swallow. Sure enough the rust was biting in
under the clamps including the REG brake cable clips. I have the feeling it
is a 60's frame -1961? that has been modernised. Id est the braze-ons have
been removed prior to a period respray. Id est the transfers/decals are
manufacturers originals. The luglining looks like it has been done by a
gorilla, hideous color too, lemon yellow over metallic turquoise. Can anyone
confirm this by frame number or catalogue illustrations of lugwork/logo
styles? I have seen your page Dale but these lugs are different, more
swirly.
Are the Dura ace levers correct for Tourney calipers?
All the best from Mark Stevens in sunny Scotland. Well it was for a
couple of hours....
