In the interest of adding some serious ballast to the list with all the talk of sub 16 lbs. machines in the last few weeks, can anyone help me identify this tandem frame ?

It has all the traits of a pre-war British tandem however there is absolutely no indication of who built it or when ? The only identification mark remaining is the frame number '68938' stamped on the left-hand frame end and on the rear of the fork crown. Of particular note are the twin diagonal tubes (twin-lats ?) running from the head tube to the frame ends without stopping at the stokers seat tube)
Problem is - who didn't build a tandem pre-war ? I'd put the names Grubb, Holdsworth, Claud Butler and all, in the frame, being "popular" marques in Scotland during the 30's and 40's. Many small "shop" owners however were tandem and solo builders from a time when you could buy complete mitred and ready to braze frame kits from the wholesaler.....
Come out of the closet all you tandem enthusiasts - you'll feel the better for it......
