While the pleasure of doing things in a difficult manner speaks for itself, I do know people who use a different method:
1. mount the tire on the rim 2. pump it up enough to give it a little shape 3. peel the tire away to reveal about three spoke holes 4. apply glue to the rim 5. put the tire back 6. peel the tire away over the next three spokes, and repeat.
Don't use too much glue.
Keep trueing the tire.
