Depending how pure you want to keep the cranks, treading French thread to English is almost exactly the same pitch. Best to use high quality taps, such as Campagnolo. I have these taps, I think most good bike shops whould have them. I have done this many times, it works fine.

Well two blanks in a row isn't bad, but I suspect that three and I'm out! Sorry again!
I find that British threaded Lyotard Berthet platform pedals won't fit into a French threaded crank arm........ Any body have a nice pair of them that are French threaded that they would like to sell or trade for British threaded (+$)?
