It answers the very common question of what is and isn't classic.
This is not rec.bikes or the iBOB list, this is a list with very
specific but quite wide perimeters. This really is the last I have

If you want the discussion to get higher than "what is classic?" you
should ask questions that aren't snide and that actually bring
something to the discussion to discuss. I will though answer all
three of your questions. First there is lots of discussion of
braking and pads on pages 189-212 of Whitt and Wilson's "Bicycling
Science"

Second question, It wouldn't dissipate much heat but you are adding
more material to the pad holder so there would be some heat energy
absorbed by the chrome. Third, You could and they'd look sharp
afterwards but your braking will go totally to hell.
