I don't know the 1970s Sears Bikes. I have a ca. '65 top of the line "Ted Williams Sport Racer" which came with Campy Record derailleurs, decent Weinmann rims and brakes, etc. The frame, alas is butted water pipe. Wouldn't have bought it except that it clones the first 10-speed I ever had... Now it is about "restored" and I can't imagine when I'm going to ride it. Just don't tell my Beloved Spouse I said that...
Having said that, the Smithsonian has microfilms of many of the Sears catalogues, alas not accessible on the web. I have a copy of the right page of one of the '60s catalogues, very fuzzy, but can send copies to any other deranged collectors infected by this oddity...
