OK folks, this is probably one of the most desirable 1980s Bianchis model. There's a well-known Connecticut collector (who is reading this right now !) who has a half-dozen of these. He can tell you that the restoration cost is much more than what I'm asking for this bike, and it's condition is quite exquisite and original ! It's a 1981 SuperLeggera. There is the little helvetica-type lettering on the top-tube and chainstay. There is a gold decal on the seattube that says: "manufactured january 1981, type 00.4.30, serial number on BB shell". The serial number is 128922. The chrome on this bike is perfect. I greased up the chrome before putting the bike in storage a few years ago. Chrome is on: headlugs, seatstay caps, dropouts, right-chainstay, fork-crown. Takes recessed-allen brakes, clamp-on front derailleur. Size is 54cm center-to-center square (both seattube and toptube). The celeste finish is excellent and original, with a tiny nick here or there. There is, on the center toptube cable guide, some bubbling to the finish, right under where the brake-housing runs, this is the typically neglected area after you've ridden in rain. It would not be seen once the housing is in place, but if you're a perfectionist, it is very easy to touch-up. It is mostly built-up, with mostly original parts: Campy BB and NR crankset, marked 1981, 170/42/52. SR rear derailleur marked 1980, NR front clamp-on derailleur, and NR shifters with center portion cutout in shape of teardrops, NR brake calipers are in place. The only incorrect parts are the C-Record first-generation alloy headset, in perfect shape, and the wheelset, which is Nuovo Record lo-flange built on Mavic GP4 anodized rims, with low-end sewups that hold air and ride, but should be replaced soon. There are no bars, levers, brake-housing/cable, saddle, pedals, post. Email for pics. $900 plus oversized UPS shipping Oh, almost forgot, the dropouts are 1010B, with the two holes for the funky Portacatena shifter, but the spacing is 126mm (you need to have it cold-set to 130 and change axles if you want to use a portacatena shifter).
