Tom and all,

I believe Gazelle sponsored some very good riders such as once champ Roger Riviere. He was sponsored by Gazelle when he took the "plunge" over the hill in the Giro which occured around the time Fausto Coppi past away or just a little after, I believe. He was paralyzed as a result of that accident but Roger Riviere went on to come out with his own line of bikes that were produced by Gazelle. Gazelle had some very nice bicycles, and they also punched out a great deal of gas pipes. I had a Tour de L'avenir which was a gas pipe entry level bike. It served me many a faithful year in Harrisburg commuting to and from work and school. Nobody would ever steal it simply because it was all nicked up and banged up. If anyone has more accurate details, I welcome any corrections. good day!

I've never had one, although I looked longingly at some examples on eBay. My impression is that they were made in Europe, in one of the Low Countries. I want to say Holland, but I can't swear to it. I suspect that they specialized in racing machines as I've seen several with number tabs. Does anyone know if Gazelle sponsored any prominent teams or riders? Baron has had some of these frames for sale before. Any info out there?

I have just purchased a frame that is marked Gazelle Champion Mondiale. I have never heard of this brand. It is lug constructed and made out of Reynolds 531 tubing. I would appreciate any information concerning this brand and model.

Thanks,
