Lurk mode: OFF
I was introduced to the list from perusing one of Sterling Peters auction on eBay, and have been enjoying myself immensely - and learning an awful lot of cool stuff - while in "lurk" mode for a few months now.
Hmm, the obligatory "about me" blurb ...First bike was a Volkscycle (1974 - I sold my restored 1959 MGA to buy two of these ...and live the student life for a year). Second was a Peugeot UX10 (1975 - as I recall, this model was supposedly identical to a PX10 but came stock with clinchers instead of sewups ...but it's been a long time). Third was a Jeff Lindsay road "special order" (1976 - this was his pre-mountain bike era, I suppose) that I still kick myself over letting go of, in the mid '80's ...and Shawn, if you read this list, please sell it back to me. Fourth is a 1984 Nishiki Prestige ("is" because I'm still riding it, along with an '87 HooKooEKoo).
The bug kicked in again (well, I never stopped riding, of course) a year or so ago, with my "discovery" that eBay had bike auctions (like, duh!). But - this time around - I seem to be drawn primarily to ancient British iron ...
....which leads me indirectly to the reason for my emergence from lurk mode ....anyone care to speculate on this frame & fork (#1850431470):
Likely year(s)? Likely model? Likely original equipment? Likely mojo? Liklihood of this actually being Reynolds 531? Willing to paint it (experienced only, please: email me offlist)?
Any info/speculation/comments at all would be very welcome, as other then it's an old Raleigh with a repaint & very oddly placed fender eyelets, I'm pretty clueless. TIA!
