Vintage Favorit Frame
Late 1960's~early1970's Favorit ladies frame & fork. Made in Czechoslovakia. I purchased this bike because I needed some parts to complete another bike in my stable. This bike came from the basement of a shop that closed a long time ago - and showed almost no signs of ever being ridden. There are scuffs & scratches on the frame from being moved around for 30+ years - spokes in rear wheel rusty - rims look good on the outside. The bearings feel rough, but it's mainly due to the grease solidifying - I'm willing to bet the races are in quite good shape. Way cool foil decals - in pretty good shape. Includes the following parts: Headset Bottom Bracket - Cottered cranks w/ring (46t) - pedals mattress saddle & seatpost ft & rr wheels - steel rims & hubs
Dimensions: Seat tube (c to t): 21" effective top tube (c to c): 21.5" mystery tubing - most likely something seamed (gas pipe, etc.)
And here's the mystery: the rims are stamped 27"x11/4", but the tires are marked 28"x1/1/4-13/4" (aka 32-622). 622 corresponds to 700c rim size. So what do we have here? Are the rims stamped incorrectly, or are the tires cast with the wrong size? It seems to me it would be easier to stamp the rims incorrectly - the tire size is actually molded into the side of the tire. Doesn't matter too much anyway since the tires are pretty much useless.
