Marty,

The "MC" stands for Masi Carlsbad (or Masi Califorinia) and has nothing to do with Mario Confente. Mario did his part on this frame; one of 7 or eight people who worked together to build this bike. The frame probably did have a size stamped on it originally. It should be marked MC 61. It seems like I can see faintly a "5" under the paint?

Very nicely done repaint my a first class painter. In the past it didn't bother me to see Masis etc. with extra chrome and braze-ons added. Nowdays it has a different effect. I guess I'm a real live retrogrouch. As flashy and even practical as some of it is; it still doesn't feel right. But rest assured, the frame is the real deal, an early CA Masi with DuBois lugs and Fischer crown and BB shell. Should be a nice day rider; but it won't look like the factory original with period parts as it sits.
