Fascinating stuff. How could he ride a 100 mi timetrial at over 30 mph but never break 50 minutes for a 25 mi TT, which "only" requires an average speed of 30 mph? He certainly broke 50 minutes for 25 miles in the process of setting that 100 mi record, but I guess it didn't count, as it wasn't a 25 mi TT?

Mick, do you happen to know if the eBay bike is one Ian used to set any memorable records? That would make it more valuable. It would also show the thing is rideable after all, goofy front brake notwithstanding!

Isn't it true that many of these TTs were point-to-point with no turn-around, so the lack of turning ability in this bike might not have mattered?
