Gotta pick your brains, List Members, (but also wish that 61 kmph lead-out Cippolini got today in the Vuelta was considered on-topic to this group...zooom! Cippo 2, Zabel zip).

I'm interested in a Colnago Sport that appears (from the pics) to be full Super Record. The bike is gunmetal grey with very clean & complete white panels " Colnago Sport" on the downtube & also "Colnago Sport" on a round headtube decal. Seat tube has a nice Colnago panel & a few other decals. Lugs aren't chromed, fork crown is flat (& chromed...I think they always were on Colnago's, no?). I'm just wondering if the "Sport" was inferior to the "Super" & what Columbus tubing was used on Sport's. I can e-mail a pic (it's a looker for sure, & it looks '70's). Next question; I have a Colnago Super that has a tri-color fade paint scheme, chrome lugs, internal rear brake cable routing, short dropouts. It also has a semi-sloping fork crown on chrome forks. I'd like to figure out the year of manufacture. No serial number. When did Colnago go with the semi-sloping fork crown? I've heard comments recently about Colnago handling that don't jibe with my experience on old Supers. Both of my '70's Supers were, I recall, hands-off stable. This tri-color Super, which I haven't finished or ridden, has a high BB, so I'm wondering if my memory is clear or if older Colnago's used a high BB along with other frame angle 'tricks' to give that characteristic ride. Any thoughts on Colnago geometry changes over the years? Thanks for listening; Colnago info isn't as available as I'd expected! Jim Hultman
