Thanks not to me, but thanks to Joel Metz for sharing his archives. His column will be a regular feature. So there is more to come. Including VBQ No. 3 on the technical trials. I hope to line up some drawings and photos of bikes from the trials. Photos probably of parts only - the bikes don't seem to exist any longer.
Brian, I am glad the VBQ is being put to good use. That is exactly the intention! Not to glorify the past, but to preserve it as a potential guide to the future. It is a bit ironic that my favorite bike (of all I have owned and/or ridden) is the 40-year old "rain bike" featured in VBQ No. 1. (The rain bike comment was from another rider whom I passed one day.)
Touring speed: How about 1240 km from Paris to Brest and back in 44 hours or less. That includes stops!
