Wasn't the original question about 'value' of the George Mount bicycle tied to assessing it for tax/museum purposes rather than what it would or could fetch in the market? I'm enjoying reading all the opinions. I'd say, restored or not, if it is the bicycle he rode in 76 and it's headed for the Hall, it's coool.

Alot of the old six day era bicycles in the Hall are restored. In the context of their display at Somerville, accompanied by all the medals, articles, and related ephemera, I don't think the fact that the bicycles are restored takes away from the experience of being exposed to it all.

George Mount may not have been Coppi. But this bicycle is destined for the USAC Hall of fame, not the Ghisallo chapel.
