Day before yesterday, the 1980 or so,Trek 730 frame that Carlo Car was so kind to source for me, showed up...
First - it was packed very nicely : )
Secondly - it was *exactly* what he said it would be.
Last night it got it's new headset and bottom bracket, I was pleased to find out my seatpost was the right size, and today I start building it up with it's mostly vintage-era Shimano stuff.
LOL - I've already gotten into with my boyfriend who soundly chastised me for even THINKING beyond white handlebar tape (wait a minute, WHOSE bicycle is this anyway??). He does not read or post to this list, but I'll quote him "why would you ruin a perfectly classic bike with something other than white tape?" I think he belongs here, except that neither bike he rides, a '96 Waterford or a '93 Merckx are within this list era. He is deeply opposed to STI and will be coming to Cirque with me, so be nice...
Today is supposed to be my day off at the shop - but I need some brake cables for a non-list bike project, so I might as well bop over there and get some cables, and some WHITE handlebar tape. Hmmm that yellow and white confetti tape would pick up the yellow detail on the top of the seat tube panel... perhaps double wrap it with white?
Ann Phillips Atlanta, GA who spends way too much time ruining perfectly classic bikes with odd combinations of handlebar tape...
