Subject: [CR]650B tires

Thanks, Bob, for organizing this. All my inquiries in France have not come up with any source of hand-made tires. The only old maker, who still is alive, the gentleman who made the MUTAN tires, is in ailing health. All others are long gone.

Maybe some day, somebody will restart this, but for now, the market is rather limited. Europe still is infatuated with skinny tires, hence Veloflex only making 22 mm tires, and Michelin's semi-performance 650B tires measuring a paltry 30 mm. Of course, their roads are much better than ours, but still - I think most people would benefit from a 25-28 mm tires in 700C, and a 37 mm tire on a 650B "any road, paved or not" bike. (And of course, our classics look ridiculous and handle funny on tires skinnier than what was intended originally.)

I have heard good things about the tires Bob is bringing in. I have ordered a number myself.
