I will be putting Shimano Dura-Ace AX parts on the bike and I'd like to use Araya aero tubular rims, but I'm a bit lacking on what Araya aero models might be appropriate for this time period. One party told me that they thought the ADX series would be appropriate, particularly the ADX-1, but I can't find any information to confirm this. Any info/help related to details on the Araya ADX series would be greatly apprediated. And also, if anyone has any 36-hole ADX series tubular rims for sale, please let me know, as I would like to secure a pair to finish this project. And is there an appropriate saddle of Japanese origin from the early 80's? Dave Patrick<<<<<

Dave and all -

Interesting that this has come up just as I was about to ask some similar questions. I, too, am in the process of building up an early 80's 3Rensho, and I also hope to use all (or most, at least) Japanese components. In my case, it is my intention to use a Suntour Superbe Pro group and SR Four'Sir Laprade stem and seat post. The Superbe Pro parts are pushing the time frame a bit, but I like the stuff and have most of what I need on hand. I still need a SP head set (anyone have a silver one they'd be willing to part with?), but will use a Tange if need be. I still need a handlebar, and would love to find a match for the SR stem, but will settle for a Nitto. Alan has graciously answered the saddle question (and that may be hard to find as well) but I'm still left with a question of what rims to use. Any other ideas of Japanese rims that are semi-appropriate to the time? Not really looking for something aero-profile, but need something that compliments the Superbe Pro level of components. Prefer clinchers, but tubies are okay too. My SP hubs are 36 hole, so I'm shopping if you're selling!

Thanks -
