Subject: [CR]Schwinn vs. Huffy - some perspective

OT, but interesting and somewhat relevant here nonetheless in the "Oh, how far the mighty have fallen" category:

In the latest Bicycle Retailer (BRAIN), there is a front-page article about Mass Merchants. In it, they state that at Wal-Mart, some Huffy bikes sell for more than their direct Schwinn competitors. Wow! Kinda sez a lot about Schwinn's legacy. Poor old Ignatz must be turning in his grave (again...).

They also mention that WalMart is toying with getting out of the bike business all together. It's noted that it wouldn't affect their bottom line at all, as they only sell five million bikes per year!!
