Last night I decided to try a shorter Cinelli old logo stem on my Cinelli. It felt a bit loose. Had come from a French bike. So, I tried another, from an old Austrian private-labeled Puch. Felt loose, too. Tried putting the Cinelli's Cinelli stem on the donor for the first bike. No go. Got out both micrometers - 0.2 mm is not easy for older eyes.
Conclusions: 1) There seem to be French size (22 mm) old logo stems. 2) They aren't marked any way that I could find to warn the users... 3) I have two of them...
Do you remember the old joke that first prize in the contest was a week in Trenton, and second prize was two weeks? It would fit this situation, except that I have two frames that still need French stems...
