Subject: [CR]Yellow Cinelli
To make a long story short (with apologies for repeating but to
refresh you): My all yellow, with red panels, Cinelli (photo at http://www.petry.org/pics/yelowc.jpg)
was purchased at a German bike store in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1972. The store
is Brügelmann (USA spelling Bruegelmann). My bike has a Bruegelmann decal on
the seat tube and I have the original receipt. Bruegelmann's is still in
business, and is apparently a very big enterprise in Germany. I knew the
owners of the store were two brothers as I had a leaflet with a picture of
them from 1972. With translation assistance from CR list member Toni
Theilmeier I put together a fairly extensive packet of photos, copies of
documentation I had and sent it off to the Bruegelmann store. I just
received this reply, which Toni translated, from Manfred Brueglemann (one of the two brothers),
President of Bruegelmann's:
Dear Mr. Garcia,
re your request about the yellow and red Cinelli I am sorry to say that I
really cannot tell you a great deal. ....
... In the seventies we were the biggest Cinelli dealership outside of Italy
and because of our personal good relationship to the Cinelli family they
were kind enough to manufacture those frames exclusively for us in the
yellow and red special colour scheme.
I hope to have been of assistance with these lines and remain
sincerely yours,
Manfred Brügelmann.
By the way, what do we know about the Cinelli family?
