Subject: [CR]Inexpensive tubulars redux

My LBS can't seem to find a distributor for the inexpensive D'Alessandro Special tubulars that he had obtained previously. Before that he had Hutchinson Tempo 1 and Tempo 2 tires that were quite servicable. They appear not to be part of the Hutchinson line up now. He asked me to do a little web research to find an alternative (he has electricity but no internet connection). Does anyone have some suggestions for sources (retail and wholesale) for inexpensive (and reasonably round and true) tubulars? Obviously I'm looking for tires with classical appearance so green, orange, red, and all black tires need not apply.

The only thing (in cheap tires) that I've run across so far is La Bicicletta with Vittoria Rally tires (black and, I think, tan sidewalls) at $13 ea. or $109 per box of 10. I've had marginal luck with the hideous green version of the Rally but the sample size is small (n=3). Yellow Jersey lists the D'Alessandro also at $18.95 ea.

Thanks, Charlie "bottom feeder"
