What Tom didn't tell everyone was that the Richard Sachs that closed last night (and that Tom won) on ebay was the very same Richard Sachs bike that was reviewed by Bicycling Magazine in the Sep/Oct 1983 issue. That was the Bicycling that had the USA vs the World with reviews of Richard Sachs, Brian Baylis, Columbine, and a few others. It was my first look at a picture of any of those three bikes and an article that forever whet my appetite for lugged steel with contrasting colors. In the course of the research this week, I reread the article and it had great things to say about Richie's frame geometry. Having just read the fine article on geometry in Asphault magazine, it was a joy to see all the details laid out in a comparative table in the review. Too bad Bicycling can't do that today. Anyway, congratulations to Tom on a great purchase and to Richie for making a great frame and getting a big break with that 1983 article. And, if one of the listmembers has a bidding name of red-turbo, then I would steer clear of Tom as your last second bid cost him almost $500!!! Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
