Subject: [CR]Cleats?

Greetings, growing up in San Francisco, it seemed we always had access to an Italian shoemaker. Those fellows could make you all leather cleats, install small heel's to prevent wear and do all it took to prolong the life of your cycling shoes.

Well now I live in the 'burbs and have no Italian shoe maker, over the past few years, as the vintage plague has over come me I have bought every vintage shoe that fit me. I recently put enough miles on a very nice pair of leather soled Maressi shoes to know where to put the cleat, off I went to the local shoe maker, my wife has had work done there in the past so I thought they would be fine. After careful explanation and marking the location I felt they knew what I wanted, you guessed it they didn't.

You know how it is when your cleats are just a little "off" and you are fighting the pedals, well that's how it was, but it was ok! because the nails started to fall out and I finished removing the loose cleats with my Swiss Army knife. I rode home an started looking through my "stuff" for more nails, when I found some small, round head, brass wood screws.

So that's what I use to hold my TA track cleat's on, you don't need a Italian shoemaker, and you are that much more independent.
