Personally, I never had to make an emergency stop on the track, or any other kind of a stop for that matter. I believe that's one of the reasons brakes are usually not allowed on the track, so nobody can stop in front of someone who has no brakes. I always slowed down on the apron, gradually coming to a halt. The only other people that I remember making sudden stops on the track were crashing.

i figure its like that on the track but having spent little time on the track I would prefer to hear from others how the move is done at speed and not for the emergency stop like on the road.
