When I was growing up in Japan, mid 60's I bought "Silk" by Katarura. This may not be the same "Silk" bicycle you have seen in the US, because, including bikes, many things they made for demestic Japanese market and export were totally different.
Mine had Japanese Cr-moly DB tubiing, was lugless-brazed frame with British B/B, round fork, copy of Campy 1010 dropouts, very very tight geometry 20" (52cm) size but 98cm wheelbase, I remember I could touch front wheel by tip of toeclip.
They did not make a complete bike and I built it up with many Campy parts next 3 years, spending all of allowances and part time job at the bike shop where I was a member of amateur road racing.
The bike was air freight to USA in 1972, and stolen from my garage in late 80's (88 or 89).
I miss my first best bike very much!
