Subject: [CR]Twin Cities Swap Meet-- Report

The 10th Annual Twin Cities swap meet was held for the first time in a much larger venue, The St Paul Academy school in St Paul. This event is a fundraiser for the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, Minnesota, and the St. Paul Bicycle Racing Club.

The planning for this event was very good, but the publicity was absolutely non-existent. Despite this we sold 45 tables and attracted 190 paid ($3 per) visitors. There was a food booth with gourmet coffee, sandwiches, bagels, cream cheese, juice, pop, brownies, cookies, etc. There was a vintage bike display with about 10 bikes from the turn of the century to 1975. There was an fantastic, beautiful, original baby blue Masi GC owned by Kevin Mcaffee, my '69 Cinelli SC Pista, a Rixie track bike, and some other rides, that were from an era that I don't know much about.

Several manufacturers reps came and sold off their clothing, shoes, helmets, and accessories at great prices. I bought some new Sidi shoes, and some Sugoi bib shorts- yes!

Included in the attendees and vendors were Dan Casebeer, former US hour record holder, Steve Hed, old-time framebuilder Terry O'Sell who learned under Cecil Behringer, (who was there in spirit), framebuilder Chris Kvale, (who will be presenting at Le Cirque), Former pro mountain bike race Gene Oberpriller, CR lister Scott Davis, John Thompson, serious collector Jon Sharratt, Michael Knudsen, (eyefrommn), and plenty of others that lurk on here...

I am pretty sure that we can make this event twice as big next year with proper publicity. There was a fair amount of older stuf, all priced really cheap! We're looking at late Feb next year- I'll keep you posted!

(I bought 2 prs of NOS shield logo Campy hoods, a 27.2 SR post, a 27.2 NR post, a bunch of NOS Campy crank bolts w/washers, 5 really great tubular tires, all NOS, with 1 Clement "Scatter" tire (?), an olympic embroidered jacket, the shoes, and the bib shorts) I missed a Raleigh track bike, a jubilee frt der, and lots of other good things)
