Mark D worked as an employee of STrawberry in the early 70's as did Jim
Merz, then both built bikes under their own names for periods of time,
DiNucci working for Merz for a period, like 1976-78 sporadically, then
building under his own name again from @1980 until getting hired--by
Merz--to work at Specialized in 1985.
Other than Jim and Mark, to my knowledge no Strawberry ex-employee has built
bikes under his/her own name. Newlands has to my knowledge built all
Strawberry labeled frames since the late 1980's. As Andy's website shows,
he builds a number of small-wheeled bikes. Trivia: When the street
intersection in front of Jim Merz's old shop was repaved some years ago, a
sub-street storage space had it's door paved over and so access to a small
batch of frame materials that JM didn't want to move with when closing his
business is shut off--vintage frame materials entombed under the
intersection of NW 21st and Everett in Portland, Oregon!

I know over the years there have been a number of contract builders for Strawberry. DeNucci (spelling?) built a bunch of frames for Strawberry. I've heard great things about DeNucci's work. Did he build under his own name also? Anybody have a DeNucci built bike? I think Merz built some Strawberries also. Anybody know of others?
