I have stumbbled upon an interesting product that others might find useful. It is called Bare-Metal Chrome Foil. It is similar to gold leaf - it is a very thin chrome foil with an adhesive backing that comes in a sheet. It is easily cut with an exacto knife or scissors and is thin enough to follow complex curves without wrinkling, and seams are almost invisible. If you are a museum quality fanatic this product is not for you. But if you have a spot of damaged chrome that you want to "repair" this will do the trick. I actually have always wanted a bike with chrome lugs so I spent about two hours "foiling" the lugs on my PX-10. The look of chrome lugs on a white bike is not that great but I ended up with OK looking chromed lugs with little effort and even less skill.

I am going to ride with these foiled lugs for several months so I can report back on the ruggedness in the rain, etc. But for now if you need to do some minor chrome repair you might check out this site: http://www.bare-metal.com/
