I've never found this to be the case, either. It's just that multiple punctures (should one be so unfortunate) are much less traumatic with Open CX's than with Corsa CX tubulars. Especially since I've married and had a child I find I have less time to mess with stuff, and less money as well. In a related vein, I always felt I had a jinx with silk tubulars. I could often get many, many trouble free miles out of handmade cottons (even lightweights like Strada 66 Clements) but put on silks, even Del Mundos, and it seemed that every object that could puncture a tire would find it's way in front of me!
