this is a tough one for me - im opposed to the war, but the other week, i found out that one of my old housemates (non-messenger), whos now married with 2 kids, and who had re-enlisted with the national guard a few years back for the extra $ - was sent over a few months ago. hes a blackhawk pilot. i may disagree totally with what hes doing, but it makes not supporting our troops - at least in the sense of a "troop" being an individual military personnel - a different can of worms for me. i may not support their choices, their reasoning, or what theyre doing, but as *people* i have to support at least those i know who are involved in this whole mess.
but as for them fighting for my freedom and right to disagree - the only people involved in this war (against iraq, terrorism or whatever it is were fighting) whove been infringing on those things, as far as i can see, are in the us government. the patriot act and other post-9/11 legislation are so open-ended on such things as to be truly disturbing to me. the definition of fascism as total integration of state and corporate entities and interests spends a lot of time in my brain these days...
