My experience was that it worked, but how well is a matter of degree. I found the pairing of the Suntour freewheel with the Sedis chain to be marginal. The relief of the freewheel gears with the splay of the chain plates produces a slow shift that requires a lot of overshift/recentering to get a gearchange. The same chain paired to a Shimano twist tooth freewheel, requires a LOT less lever shifting/recentering to make a gear change. The Suntour combination does work, and if you're willing to put up with it, is acceptable and makes a strong wheel. I stopped using the suntour freewheels when I discovered how well the Shimano twist tooth configuration shifted, despite the standard six speed spacing.
