I need a recommendation on a chain to use. I have just finished tuning up the Bob Jackson in the hope that the snow etc. will finally be finished and will be gone by the end of the week.
I have a period correct Sedis chain which is being used with a Maillard Course 6spd. freewheel 13-24 and 1982 NR rear and front der., NR crankset (52-43). I picked up the chain for a few bucks - I have always used Sedis chains - the Raleigh has a Sedisport chain - I thought the new (old) one was the same, however, the links are bigger. The drivetrain with SR - Maillard - Sedisport on the Raleigh spins really nicely - nice and tight and shifts quite well. When I spun the cranks on the BJ it felt like the the drive was a bit more herky-jerks - shifts fine but does not run as cleanly. Any recommendations on a better chain to use? And where to get one?
